Task 1. Complete the sentences:

Task 2. Complete the sentences with prepositions of time and place:

1. In the morning most of the people are in a hurry. 2. Every day at 8 o’clock I catch a bus to get to the Uni. 3. The bus stop is right in front of my house. 4. Classes begin at 8.30. 5. I’m usually in time for classes. 6. At midday students usually have lunch in the university canteen. 7. On Wednesday I go to keep-fit classes. 8. My friend was born in 1990. His birthday is in May, 15. 9. On weekends I usually help mother about the house. 10. I don’t like to stay in bed on waking up, so I get up from bed very quickly. 11. In summer students play games on the playground and in winter they train in a gym. 12. I sometimes stay in the Uni after classes and read up for the seminars in the library. 13. When my parents come home from work, we have supper. 14. After supper I help my mother to wash up. 15. If there is an interesting program or a film on TV I watch it till late at night. 16. I never go to bed early and always feel sleepy on class. 17. I don’t have time to have a nap at the daytime. 18. In my leisure hours I go to my friend’s place. 19. In the evening I also like to spend time in my bedroom. 20. Some pictures on the walls and a big carpet on the floor make my room really cosy.

 

Task 3.

a) Write down what you always, often, sometimes, never do during the day. Use your active vocabulary:

I never get to the Uni by elephant.

b) Write down what you always, often, sometimes, never do at weekends. Use your active vocabulary:

I always eat more then on the working week - weekdays

I often walk with my friends.

Sometimes I walk with my dog, but it happens rarely.

I never leave my phone turned on at weekands.

Task 4. Read the text. Put the paragraphs of the text in the right order.

A. Wilcox: Victor Eugene. Date of birth: 19 Oct. 1980. Place of birth: Easton, Rummidge, England. Marital Status: married to Marjorie Florence Coleman, 1984. Children: Reymond (b. 2004), Sandra (b. 2006), Gary (b. 2008). Present position: Managing Director. That’s who I am.

B.Monday, January, 13th, 1986. Victor Wilcox lies awake, in the dark bedroom, waiting for his alarm clock to bleep. It is set to do this at 6.45. How long he has to wait he doesn’t know.

C.He runs hot water into the dark purple bowl, lathers his face with shaving foam from an aerosol can, and begins to scrape his jaw with a safety razor. Vic wipes the foam from his cheeks and fingers the shaven flesh appraisingly. Dark brown eyes stare back at him. Who am I? Vic frowns in the mirror above the handbasin and scans the square face.

D. The alarm clock cheeps. He presses the snooze button on the clock with a practiced finger and falls effortlessly asleep. Five minutes later, the alarm clock wakes him again. Vic sighs, hits off the button of the clock, switches on his bedside lamp, gets out of bed and goes to the bathroom.

Student’s note: Victor’s date of birth is 19 Oct. 1980, but the described events take place in 1986. That means what he is 6 years old. How he can be married and have three children?
