Делим пословицы на 4 части, так как нужно 12 человек поделить на 3 группы по 4 человека.

Many hands make light work.

Когда рук много, работа спорится.

Doing is better than saying.

Чем говорить, так лучше делать.

As busy as a bee.

What is it scrapbooking?

Scrapbooking has been a method of taking family and personal history and preserving it in various forms, such as albums in scrapbooks, and in print media, memorabilia, and of course photographs as well.

Scrapbooking is as individual a hobby as the person undertaking it. Memory books and pages may be simple or they may be complex, depending on you and your goals for your scrapbook. Scrapbooking supplies are archival quality; this means they are acid-free, do not contain PVC's (polyvinyl chloride), and will not harm photographs or keepsakes. The generations who follow will be able to enjoy and learn from these lovingly compiled pages.

Basic scrapbook pages consist of one or more photographs laid out on special paper, either plain or patterned, along with journaling done with acid-free pens or pencils. Stickers enhance the overall design, highlighting the theme or event portrayed on the page. Various sizes of albums and pages, including 8 1/2 x 11 and 12 x 12, enable scrappers to suit different albums and page formats to their distinct needs or purposes.

Heritage pages offer glimpses of the past, branches of the family tree upon which to rest and reflect upon where we are going and where we have been. Heritage layouts preserve family history through family photos and stories. They bring to life the eras during which our forefathers and mothers lived and loved, worked and played, laughed and cried.

The History of Scrapbooking

Even before photographs were around, back in ancient Greece, there was a special notebook, known as the hypomnemata, which was used to record things that they had heard, seen, or read that they wanted to preserve and remember. Once materials began to be printed, these books turned into books where they would preserve printed materials that they found and liked. So, the story actually goes all the way back to the Greeks.

In England, in the 15th century there were books known as commonplace books. These books were used to record information, such as weights, poems, medical formulas and prayers. Instead of trying to remember all of this information, it was written into a commonplace book. Commonplace books were used by students to record the information learned. Over time commonplace books also held newspaper articles, recipes and illustrations. Commonplace books were a way to share information.

There were also friendship albums that were created and given as gifts. Young women in the Victorian period often created memory books or visitor’s albums filled with signatures, scrap, cards, hair, handwriting, poetry, and even photographs of their family and friends. Again, these were a way of sharing with others, and of preserving memories.

Оf course scrapbooking was around in early America as well if you take a closer look at the history of scrapbooking. In fact, some of the most well known scrapbookers in early America included Mark Twain as well as Thomas Jefferson. Mark Twain was an avid scrapbooker. He devoted entire Sundays to this hobby and then sold his books through Montgomery Ward. Thomas Jefferson kept leather-bound books filled with news clippings, drawings, dried leaves and other memorabilia.

As you can see, the history of scrapbooking is actually a very rich one and it is interested to see where scrapbooking has come from. So, after taking a look at the deep and rich history of scrapbooking, hopefully you are inspired to consider ecording your own history with a scrapbook of your own.
