GRAMMAR COMMENT: Form of the Passives

We form the passive using bein an appropriate tense or form + the past participle of the transitive verb. A small money was stolen from the cash box. Not all be + ed forms are passive. They may be adjectives. The man has been depressed since the TV broke down.

Exercise 1.Rewrite each of the following sentences so that the underlined object becomes the new subject:
